Driving towards downtown Anaheim late Sunday night, I noticed a number of patrol cars with their lights flashing. A late-night run to Mos II? Herding hipsters? Fighting back protesters?
Nope–murder scene. Residents near the 300 block of East Valencia Avenue called the cops around 9:45 p.m. with reports of gun shots. When police arrived, the body of a 23-year-old Anaheimer laid next to a car. Coroners identified the man as Efrain Bautista Reyes.

“We are still investigating how the shooting happened,” Anaheim police spokesman Lt. Bob Dunn tells the Weekly. “There are no leads at this point.” Dunn says the suspected murder is being looked at as possibly gang-related.
“That's what our detectives are trying to piece together.”
Keep posted here for updates on any arrests made in the case.
Until then, anyone with useful information about the shooting is encouraged to leave anonymous tips with Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1.855.TIP.OCCS.
