Get your gritos ready for the 9th annual Anaheim Mariachi Festival. Charro suit-wearing musicians grace Pearson Park Amphitheatre’s stage, strumming vihuelas, plucking guitarróns, and crying “ajúa” into the evening sky. The annual event is organized by Rhythmo Inc. Mariachi Academy—the organization is a cultural treasure in the city that teaches the traditions of Mexico’s beloved genre to youth looking to learn. Vocalist Monica Rojas joins a lineup including a number of talented Mariachi troupes. Sean Oliu, who the Weekly named “Best Future Superstar Singer” after his appearance on Telemundo’s kid version of The Voice, is also on hand. By the last tan-tan of the night, all proceeds from OC’s premier mariachi festival helps keep Rhythmo Inc. alive.
