Orange County Zine Library and Reading Room Exhibit Opening this Saturday!

Orange County may not have as big a zine culture as, say, Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but we're trailing close behind with hidden zinester gems in our own neighborhood (Santanero, Zineworks, etc.) and a DIY culture like nobody's business. So for you kiddies into alternative print, it behooves you to attend the opening of the Orange County Zine Library and Reading Room at the OC Great Park this Saturday!

LA Zine Fest did us the favor of curating some awesome zines from zine fests across America–Houston, New York, San Francisco, even Scranton–into a venerable exhibit of around 200 zines for visitor perusal. Best of all? Admission is FREE!

Apart from the collection, the room will also be screening $100 & a T-Shirt, a documentary on the renewed DIY and zine culture in the Northwest. Check out the trailer below:

This exhibit runs from June 15 until September 1st; so why should you check out the opening, you ask? Visitors coming to the opening will receive a special zine created by LA artist Yumi Sakugawa entitled “How To Make a Zine.” Not enough reason? If you bring your zine to the opening it will be included as part of the exhibit's collection!*

So there you have it, make note that this takes place at the Palm Courts Art Complex at the OC Great Park. For more information, check out lazinefest.com. See you there (or be square)!

*Note: make sure your special zine contribution to the library is rated-PG, in case you don't want your zine be rejected for being too dirty, you sicko.
