The Garden Grove Police Department Traffic Unit holds a DUI/drivers license checkpoint tonight from 9 p.m. through 3 a.m.
An exact location was not released.
The cop shop claims high visibility DUI operations, including checkpoints and saturation patrols, are ” proven to lower the number of persons killed and injured
in alcohol or drug impaired crashes. Research shows that crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by up to 20 percent when well-publicized proactive DUI operations are conducted routinely.”
Funding for the checkpoint comes to the Garden Grove Police Department from a California Office of Traffic Safety grant, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
