Folks, I don't know if you realize, but it's summer out there. Aw, but times are too tight to fly somewhere for a little weekend vacation. Time to hit the streets for a crafty road trip to Northern California!
Julia McCabe of JnJ Designs will be taking part in Saturday's Design Downtown block party in Sacramento, won't you go pay her a visit?
]
JnJ Designs, like so many Etsy shops, is a family affair. Julia creates these fun, funky pieces of jewelry with her mother-in-law, Judy. Their pieces are inspired by both the physical world around them and their emotional reactions to it. One can only guess that this piece was inspired by the joy that comes from a fresh cut bunch of bright happy flowers:
The Design Downtown event these crafty ladies will be participating in is a sort of creative block party that takes place on the third Saturday of every month. (Which of course means if you've already got plans this Saturday, you can start planning next month's road trip now.) The event will feature street vendors, community art projects, trunk sales, a fashion bazaar, fashion shows, a beer garden and live entertainment – sounds like a fun way to spend an afternoon!
Especially that beer garden part…
Design Downtown takes place on the streets and sidewalks of K Street between 10th and 11th and L and J Streets.You can find out more about the event at this website, and can see more of JnJ Designs at their Etsy site.
And if you missed Renegade Craft Fair in Los Angeles (or if you wanna try your hand at being a craft fair groupie), the show takes place again this weekend in San Francisco! Lots of different vendors, but some of your faves like Frantic Meerkat and Kelso Doesn't Dance will be there! Renegade Craft Fair San Francisco takes place on July 18 and 19 from 11am – 7pm, and all the details can be seen at their website.
Happy trails and safe travels, hope you have a fun road-trippy weekend!
