Last week, you read Anne Marie's preview of the new Belgian bakery at Fashion Island. Today, amid a flurry of press releases the bakery has announced Le Pain Quotidien is officially open.
The chain, which started in Brussels in 1990, went on to conquer the rest of the
world, including Bahrain, Japan and India. LA has a dozen of them. This is OC's first.

Touted are fall specials, including a broccoli, ham and swiss frittata; vegan cherry scone; gazpacho; roasted turkey, Brie and honey-mustard tartine; endive, Fourme d'Ambert and pear salad; French lentil, chickpea and avocado salad; mixed grapes and walnut tart; and sparkling hibiscus tea . . . and bread — lots of bread.
Le Pain Quotidien is located within Fashion Island's Pacific Court at 1103 Newport Center Dr., Newport Beach; www.lepainquotidien.us. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
