It's been a year of food trends around here. And one that's growing more prevalent is the pop-up: A special menu served in a setting either unexpected or temporary (usually for a single day or meal). You'll often find cuisines or techniques that aren't normally offered here. The best part— the selection varies with each visit.
Our favorite pop-ups often involve beverage pairings, so collaborations with wineries and breweries are a plus. This Saturday, there's a beer pairing brunch in Santa Ana over at Native Son Alehouse. They've collaborated with The Culinary Underground for a three-course spread guaranteed to induce a siesta. Check out the menu below.
First course:
Cherry stout compote, brie grits, mint & cardamom granola
Pairing – Deschutes Jubelale 2014 on Nitro
Second course:
Urfa-spiced pork belly, egg scramble, beef fat fried potatoes
Pairing – Ale Smith Yule Smith 2014
Third course:
Brioche French toast, eggnog, Chantilly cream, gingerbread crumble & bourbon barrel-aged barleywine syrup
Pairing – NB Whiskey Barrel-Aged Salted Belgian Chocolate on Nitro
