There are three–count ’em–three DUI checkpoints running in Orange County tonight.
Neither of the three agencies conducting the operations disclosed the location or area of the sobriety stops.
Buena Park Police Department’s Traffic Unit holds its checkpoint tonight from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.
That’s the same time frame for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department DUI Enforcement Team checkpoint somewhere in Dana Point.
Meanwhile, the Newport Beach Police Department Traffic Division runs its operation tonight from 8 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
All motorists passing through any of these checkpoints (or others we don’t know about) will be checked for signs of impairment from drugs or drink.
Cops will also be on the lookout for unlicensed drivers.
Funding for the operations come from separate California Office of Traffic Safety grants, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
