The national, 18-day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign of special anti-DUI enforcement operations through the end of Labor Day weekend continues with a checkpoint in Irvine tonight.
The Irvine Police Department announced its sobriety checkpoint runs tonight from 8 p.m. through 2 a.m. in the area of Jeffrey Road and Alton Parkway.
The operation is funded by a grant awarded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
“IPD publicizes these highly visible sobriety checkpoints to deter impaired drivers, encourage the use of sober designated drivers and rideshare services, and bring increased awareness to the consequences of impaired driving,” reads a department advisory.
