The Santa Ana Police Department holds a DUI/drivers license checkpoint from 9 tonight through 2:30 a.m.
Where?
In the area of 2000 West First Street, according to an SAPD advisory.
“All vehicles may be checked, and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested,” the coppers warn.
Meanwhile, the Buena Park Police Department on Wednesday ran another of those sting operations where they stake out defendants coming out of the North Justice Center in Fullerton, where they just had a judge suspend their license.
That means they cannot drive until the license has been un-suspended, even if they drove to the courthouse.
Well, out of seven defendants who found themselves in that predicament, three used alternative means to get out of there. But four got behind the wheel anyway and drove off, only to be quickly pulled over by Buena Park officers. Combined with non-defendants who were stopped for various infractions in the general area of the courthouse, BPPD logged the following:
- Six people were cited for suspended/revoked licenses.
- Two people were cited for never being licensed.
- Eight vehicles were towed/impounded.
Funding for the Santa Ana and Buena Park operations come from separate California Office of Traffic Safety grants, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
