Ted Currie, 20, of Huntington Beach, was helping a friend deejay the customer appreciation party thrown by Skyhi Clothing Co. in Santa Ana, where the partying got so loud police were called to break it up in the early morning hours. After cops left, witnesses say, Currie and two others argued before punches were thrown, he was struck repeatedly in the face and he fell backward, his head striking the ground hard.

As Currie was lying unconscious, the others continued assaulting him and then left the party. Currie was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he remained in a coma for the next two weeks as he was treated for bleeding in the brain and multiple skull fractures. Though Currie is now out of the comma coma, he is believed to have suffered permanent brain damage. (*corrected)

No word on whether cops have a line on a second suspect.
