BalletX

Smack dab in the middle of the Laguna Dance Festival (considered one of the ten most relevant events to shape the Orange County art scene), comes BalletX. Mixing traditional ballet with contemporary pop and avant garde choreography, the BalletX company presents three performances in one night. First is Largo, a selection of dance inspired by French painter Jean-Honore Fragonard's “Progress of Love,” set to Bach's “Goldberg Variations.” Next comes The Last Glass, ballet to the music of Beirut; and to finish the evening is a world premier performance choreographed by Jodie Gates. It's definitely modern, kinda quirky, and absolutely fascinating. Don't miss the pre-show discussion with Artistic Directors Christine Cox and Matthew Neenan an hour before the show.
