Eek-A-Mouse

There's no question that the irie sounds of roots reggae will always have a home on the shores of south county. Unfortunately, that appreciation often leads to a rampant crop of shwag, beach city sound-a-likes. But not this weekend. Once again, rude boy pioneer Eek-a-Mouse stops down in San Clemente to deliver a chronic puff of infectious riddims, and raw rhymes that rely on a mix of politics and half-baked humor. Just days before his 51st birthday, Eek (born Ripton Joseph Hylton) has certainly not lost his drive to remain relevant over his career that spans about three decades and 18 albums. His 6'6″ frame may not quite match up to his trade mark nasally vocals, but there's no denying that his presence is a perfect match for a laid back beach crowd salivating for a taste of authentic Jamaican style.
