Part 3, Breaking it down: Craft and Sculpture in American Art
In the mid 20th century, American craft and sculpture saw radical shifts and blurred boundaries for the first time. By investigating the work of ceramicist Peter Voulkos and glassblower Dale Chihuly, we will trace the arc of this movement from traditional “craft” media to purely sculptural forms that were often grand in scale.
