For three weeks in September, beer-fueled debates in the bars of Grand Rapids, MI are not about sports and politics, but art. “More Art Upstairs” follows four accomplished artists as they compete at ArtPrize, a populist experiment that is challenging the art world’s hierarchy by giving the public the power to decide who will win almost half of the $500,000 in prize money.
Stay for the post-film discussion about the relevance of contemporary art to our local community with filmmaker Jody Hassett Sanchez; Grand Central Art Center Director and Chief Curator John Spiak; and artist Mariángeles Soto-Díaz.
