Lizzie the Musical

Feb 2nd • 8:00 pm • Chance Theater

The life and trial of accused murderess Lizzie Borden has long fascinated the American imagination— not merely because of the gruesomeness of her alleged crimes, but also how gender perceptions of the 19th Century may have been what ultimately let her off the hook from what appeared to be a pretty solid conviction case. Borden’s story has been turned into musicals, opera, film and TV “Movies of the Week” starring Elizabeth Montgomery (the scariest Lizzie of them all!), and now the Chance theatre joins those ranks by brining to you what has been described as a gothic rock ritual with a “riot girl” attitude (think Patti Smith and Joan Jett). Directed by Jocelyn Brown and choreographed by Hazel Clarke, this is one “hatchet job” you won’t want to miss! (Written by SR Davies)
