May the Fourth Be With You: Freddie Mercury, Cee Lo Green, Anthrax's Charlie Benante, Thrice, Snoop Dogg and Michael Jackson Celebrate Star Wars Day, Too!

Happy Star Wars day to you, too! Here are some musicians who've geeked out to the greatest movie of all time.

1. Freddie Mercury
In this photo, he sits on Darth Vader's shoulders during Queen's
tour to promote their album The Game. In his 1978 Queen song, 'Bicycle Race,' he sang, “I
don't like 'Star Wars.'”

In other concerts around that time, Mercury sang while poised on the
shoulders of different iconic characters, including Superman and Santa
Claus. [via Spinner]

2. Gnarls Barkley

Gnarls Barkley performed “Crazy” at the MTV Movie Awards 2006 on June 8, 2006. The whole band were dressed as characters from the film series Star Wars. Rebel Alliance pilots, Imperial officers, Stormtroopers, Chewbacca, Jango Fett, Obi-Wan, with Cee-Lo singing as an unmasked Darth Vader. Stormtroopers played guitar and bass, while Imperial officers played violins. Danger Mouse, as Obi-Wan Kenobi was on the keyboard, while Jango Fett was the mixer and Chewbacca played the drums. The song they performed was not Star Wars based.

3. Anthrax

Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante sometimes wears a Darth
Vader mask or a stormtrooper helmet while playing drums on stage. Seeing A New Hope in the theaters as a kid clinched it for him: “It felt like an event, like a concert. When I left the
theatre I was hooked! Everything was Star Wars at that point.”

4. Thrice

In drummer Riley Breckenridge's own words, all of Thrice are Star Wars
dorks in some regard. (Some of us being a bit more versed in
Lucasfilm and literature dorkery than others (*cough* Dustin *cough*).  In 2009, Thrice performed in Houston in full Star Wars regalia.

5. Snoop Dogg

While rapper Snoop Dogg didn't really hang out on stage with Stormtroopers, he marched around New York with Darth Vader  to launch the adidas Originals x Star Wars footwear and apparel collection last year.

6. Michael Jackson

Yes, this really happened. In front of the Chinese Theater. Lulz.
