Mykki Blanco, MØ, and LPX, Fri. 2/8, 8 PM

Feb 8th • 8:00 pm • The Observatory – Santa Ana

Mykki Blanco’s music is the soundtrack to a social revolution. Since the release of his 2012 hit, “Wavvy,” Blanco has been deconstructing traditional notions of gender with his own brand of genre-bending hip hop. Although he has been labelled “queer rap” by some critics, the Fountain Valley native’s music refuses to be pinned to such a simplistic classification. Songs like “Betty Rubble,” display his creative blend of Riot Grrl aesthetic and psychedelic hip hop which often dances on the line between catchy and haunting. What better place to catch one of Mykki Blanco’s subversive, conscious-piercing live sets than in his own hometown? Danish singer-songwriter, MØ, will be performing a set of her signature atmospheric electropop as well.
