For many, losing a pet can feel like losing our best friend. At times, it also can be a traumatic event – leaving pet owners experiencing feelings of anxiety, extreme sadness, loneliness and guilt. But you’re not alone!
Starting in September, Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary will begin hosting a Pet Loss Support Group. Join in conversation with others who share and understand your sadness in a safe, supportive environment. Begin the process of healing.
This free group is open to the public Attendees may come to all or any of the sessions, each will have a different focus. Fairhaven Memorial’s Pet Loss Support Group is an extension of its Grief Support Group. The four-week session will run through September and finish the first week in October.
Week 1 Topic: Grieving a pet vs grieving a person, is it the same thing?
Week 2 Topic: Normal, natural reactions and emotions to pet loss.
Week 3 Topic: Support for grieving the death of your pet.
Week 4 Topic: Considering whether to add a new pet to your family?
