  1. Please study history, you jabroni:
“(Independence Day) ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more. ” – John Adams, The Letters of John and Abigail Adams

      1. I fail to see the point of your post. Question was asked “Why patriotism = fireworks?” I answered with a direct quote from our 2nd President. Where the fuck does “mandatory” come from, you chowderhead? It’s a free goddamned country.

        1. Correct, your cited quote says “ought to be” which is indicating suggestion, not that fireworks are a mandatory or integral part of displaying patriotism. This is where my usage of mandatory comes from. Since it is a “free goddamned country” there shouldn’t be a requirement that you must have pyrotechnical displays to be considered patriotic – whereas we live in an area/time/space where if you do not like ramparts and illuminations, you’re not patriotic.

          1. Again.. Where did your qualification of “required” come in? The original question uses the word “synonymous”. In case you you don’t have access to a dictionary, here’s the definition:

“Closely associated with or suggestive of something.”

You’re suggesting that you HAVE to light off fireworks on the 4th. That argument was never raised, so WTF? What are you trying to argue?

          2. Oh no, I am not at all suggesting that you HAVE you light off fireworks on the 4th of July – this is what the general population suggests. The argument has been raised far and wide across social platforms like NextDoor and Facebook as to the lack of American-pride in those that do not enjoy the bombardment of ballistics in such close proximity to their home. I did state that we live in an area/time/space where if you do not like ramparts and illuminations, you’re not patriotic. This message is constant. I hardly assume that you’re oblivious to this?

  2. I live in SanTana…
Why does the 4th of July start in April, and last until Christmas.
If I wasn’t so lazy, I’d drive around wearing a bullet proof vest with buckets of water.
