Focus on Art

You gotta admire Alejandro Otero who tried his hand at revising a movement as seminal as Cubism. This week, head over to MOLAA where you can learn about the Venezuelan man behind the art. The South American visionary came of age in the era of Picasso, and though a skilled painter, in the 1960s, he shifted his focus to civic sculptures such as Delta Solar, a massive stainless steel structure configured in a triangular geometric grid. Otero's work, which exhibits a fascination with squares and grids, paid homage to technology and native traditions. Be in the lobby at 1 p.m. when the Museum of Latin American Art provides docent Khara Cloutier to guide your exploration.
