–Indicted ex-Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona's defense team tried to prove in trial today that a wealthy Carona campaign contributor's relative, serving a jail sentence, had not received preferential treatment, but Kim Markuson–onetime assistant sheriff for OC jails–provided the aforementioned answers to federal prosecutor Brett Sagel when asked if Carona's sheriff's department violated two specific provisions of a court order that gave preferential treatment to the contributor's relative who was allowed to leave custody for personal business.
