Get ready to bust out your spandex, DayGlo outfits, and Aqua Net for the most righteous, Reagan Era rager this side of SoCal. For the fourth year in a row, Sellout Events present the all-age family friendly, “Like Totally Music Festival,” on the shores of Surf City at Huntington State Beach on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
English Post-Punker’s and former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon’s band – Public Image Ltd anchors the first wave of artists just announced to perform, along with British Rock n’ Roller – Kim Wilde (first U.S. appearance since 1987), with hits like ‘Kids In America’ and “You Keep Me Hanging On,” and English Pop artist’s ABC – best known for their hit “The Look of Love,” and B-Movie (“Nowhere Girl”). Other classic ’80s rock acts on the bill include Animotion (“Obsession”), The Romantics (“What I Like About You”), Greg Kihn Band (“The Breakup Song”/”Jeopardy”), and the OC’s very own – The Reflexx, hosting an All-Star Jam with Richard Page of Mr. Mister (Broken Wings/Kyrie) and Nick Richards of Boys Don’t Cry (I Wanna Be A Cowboy).
Last year’s lineup was headlined by The Human League, The Alarm and Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel among others.
As always, festival attendees are encouraged to show up in their best ’80s themed attire and enter in on the best-dressed costume contest, held during the festival. Expect plenty of sun, sand, an ocean breeze, and evening stars, along with ’80s chart-topping artists that will take you right back to the good times of youthful kinship, first loves and epic beach parties.
“We are super excited about this festival and are bringing out the original founding artists with these bands to perform their biggest hits for robust, full sets on Mother’s Day weekend,” festival producer Scott Tucker says. “We felt it’s a perfect way to spend the day with family and friends – both old and new.”
The event is hosted by notable alumni DJ’s of KROQ and Sirius XM- Richard Blade, Jed the Fish, Freddie Snakeskin, Huntington Beach’s own Rockin Fig and Jimmy Alvarez. The DJ hosts will crank up the festivities with the best the ’80shas to deliver, along with many giveaways and take homes. For information and tickets, visit the festival’s website.
