Neon Trees

A lot of people have given Owl City well-deserved flack for sounding so transparently like a junior college version of The Postal Service. But where is the outrage over the Julian Casablancas impression Neon Trees lead singer Tyler Glenn is doing on their hit single, “Animal”? Which is not to say they’re all bad: Glenn has a pretty sharp mohawk, and he went to high school in Temecula, not far from Orange County. (Guitarist Chris Allen is also from the IE, though the band came together in Utah.) They covered “Baby” by Justin Bieber, so that’s fun. Recently, they were on tour with 30 Seconds to Mars, and are now on their headlining stint—plus, Santa Ana band Pacific Hurt are on the bill for the Glass House show.
