Adrian Young, the longtime No Doubt drummer, and Todd Forman, who played saxophone with Sublime from 1990 through frontman Brad Nowell’s death six years later, want to hear your song(s).
The Long Beach-based musicians-turned-producers officially launched Moxy Brothers, a full-service music production company that includes engineering, songwriting and performance. To get everyone excited about the new venture, Moxy Brothers unveiled a competition to find a brand new song with the most “Moxy!”
Anyone can enter the competition by sending their original song in .mp3 format, along with their Instagram handle and hometown, to email@example.com today through Tuesday, Nov. 19. From all the entries, Young and Forman will chose the tune “with the best combination of song, story and vibe,” according to Moxy Brothers.
What does the selected artist win? None other than “the full Moxy Brothers treatment” as the music industry vets “will assist in all aspects of music production including composition, arrangement and recording to bring the winning composition to its full potential,” states a Moxy release.
Pre-production and bed tracks will be created in the Moxy Brothers’ Ruby Red Room studio before Young and Forman head to the winner’s hometown with their mobile UA recording gear. The chosen one also gets his or her own Apollo X4 desktop interface.
Besides residing in the same area, Young and Forman had their “musical paths” cross countless times over the years, which led to “their unwavering friendship” and, now, Moxy Brothers, according to the production company.
“We have been so fortunate to live and work with a community of artists as diverse and talented as they come,” Forman says. “Our friends have established a little seaside artist colony that takes advantage of its eclecticism, individualism, honed talent and diverse creativity. The only thing missing is you!”
“You” meaning YOU!
