Orange Sunshine and the Mystic Artists 1967-1970

Anytime somebody tells you Orange County is boring and nothing interesting ever happened here, you can swat ‘em in the face with a copy of (our own) Nick Schou’s book Orange Sunshine, the unbelievable but true story of the LSD underground that was born in Laguna Beach. Now Newport’s Coastline Gallery is presenting an art show dedicated to Mystic Arts World, the gallery-slash-pulsating-heart of Laguna’s psychedelic community, kicking off with a panel discussion of these head-y times including—also unbelievably—the Godfather and Godmother of the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, originators of this entire scene. This is about as close as you can get to the true source of this stuff without ascending to the astral plane, so peel open that third eye and get ready to connect to the true secret history of Orange County.

Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: July 28. Continues through Sept. 26, 2015
