Ozomatli Bassist Wil-Dog Abers Gives Surprise Guest Lecture at Cal State Fullerton!

Ozomatli bassist Wil-Dog Abers made a surprise appearance yesterday at a Cal State Fullerton performing a couple songs for a classroom of students. The guest lecturer of the day came at the invitation of Adjunct Professor Jorge Herrera who teaches a course on the Chicano music experience on campus — now there's a class I'd sign up for!

With a purple 12-string 'Gavachillo' guitar in hand, Abers, according to an audience memb…err student who snapped photos and recorded the songs, spoke of how his journey with the Grammy-award winning Los Angeles band began all the way back when his father took him to see the Clash when he was just a youngster and that true success comes from doing what's in your heart.

Inviting a chingón musician like Wil-Dog to deliver a lecture and kick out the jams is a sure fire way to get students to pay extra attention in class. Making moves like this, Cal State Fullerton's Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies is quickly becoming the CSUN of OC.

Keep up the buen trabajo!
