The Dalai Lama will celebrate his 80th birthday in Orange County and the public is invited, it was announced Thursday.
Organizers say the Global Compassion Summit being held July 5-7 will serve as the official 80th birthday celebration for the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism. The kickoff will be at the Honda Center in Anaheim, and the next two days of dialogues and panel discussions run at UC Irvine. Tickets go on sale April 2.
“This milestone occasion is a joyous opportunity for people to come together in celebration of His Holiness' life and achievements,” says Tenzin Dhonden, a close aide to the Dalai Lama, in a statement.
