Rancid

If you've never listened to defunct East Bay ska band Operation Ivy, do yourself a favor and get cracking. And though you can't experience their infectiously upbeat, low-fi songs live, you can check out the band's mainstream follow up project Rancid—the next best thing. They've been at it for 20 years now and are famous for rocking a revivalist punk sound with some of the infectious ska elements from their early days. Rancid had a hand in the lucrative '90s resurgence of the genre but maintained a DIY ethic and insisted on remaining on pseudo-independent label Epitaph, a move which struck a chord with their fans and helped them maintain a loyal following after two decades and seven albums.
