'Rap Like Ms. Krazie' Contest Ends With Surprise Pick

After a week-long delay, rapper America Ochoa finally announced the winner of the female-only  “Rap like Ms. Krazie” contest she started nearly two months ago.

The big decision on who was to be selected to collaborate with the artist on a song for her next album was to come down on Nov. 2, but the loca on the mic agonized over choosing among the nearly 200 submissions that came in before the announced deadline for the contest.

Whittling the field of candidates down to five women who recorded covers of her songs, Ms. Krazie remained stuck for days until last night, when a YouTube video revealed that she had chosen San Diego based user “Silenciosa 619” as the winner.

The pick was a bit of surprise, considering other female hopefuls had
garnered sizable supportive comments online. But most–if not all–of
Ms. Krazie fans expressed gratitude for the opportunity that the contest
provided anyway, as opposed to raising penciled in eyebrows at the
selection.

The only problem is that the rapper has yet to be
able to make contact with the winner! As Ms. Krazie's last update on Facebook
noted,

I STILL HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO GET AHOLD OF HER SO I DONT KNOW IF
SHE KNOWS SHE WON HEHE BUT AS SOON AS I DO I WILL LET YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT
SHE SAID, HOW SHE FEELS AND IF SHE ACCEPTS MY OFFER TO COLLABORATE WITH
ME ON MY NEXT ALBUM FORGIVE NOT FORGET.

For doubters, Ms. Krazie's judgment on female collaborations has
been on point in previous times. She shared the mic with Santa
Barbara-based rapper Sleepy Loka on “Mas Vale Sola,” a forceful, G'd up
track that was among the best on her “Smile Now Cry Never” release.

As
the Urban Queen of Mexican/Chicana Rap gears up to bring a fan into the
studio with her for “Forgive Never Forget”, the “Rap Like Ms. Krazie”
guys-only contest is set to begin next when she reaches 2,500 followers
on her Twitter account. Less than 700 people are needed to enter la
institucion to set things off.
