Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Pinchas Zuckerman

For more than four decades, Grammy-winning Pinchas Zukerman has been one of the most influential forces in classical music. The conductor and violinist comes to the Segerstrom Center this week at the helm of the esteemed Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from London. Tonight's program includes an assortment of delicacies for those with a taste for classical. First up is Bach's “Violin Concerto in E major, BWV 1042” followed by Schoenberg's masterful “Verklärte Nacht.” Rounding out the evening is a performance of Beethoven's “Eroica” Symphony, a piece generally thought responsible for sparking music's Romantic Period (fun fact: the symphony's original title was “Bonaparte,” but after Napoleon decided to call himself the Emperor of the French, it was irately renamed.) Show up an hour early for a lecture by Dr. Burton Karson.
