We discussed the rapid expansion of one of our favorite former luxe loncheras back in June. However, the article was not aware of Slapfish's two future spots besides Brea. Now we are privy to one. Thank you, social media.
Father, Slapfish founder and sandwich eater Andrew Gruel took a break from his schedule to lunch on hot pastrami and discuss topics like his weekend trips to Washington DC growing up (Thanks again for the Ted's Bulletin rec!). Explaining his day-to-day schedule, Andrew noted that he normally catches up on social media at the end of his day. For someone to stay current on his restaurant's reviews and industry news is a feat, because there's not enough hours to manage work and home life as it is.
Jump to our routine Facebook/Instagram/Snapchat checks the other day, and we came across a snippet of chef's day on social media. Building a brand takes time, but there's no slowing down for the seafood shack as his plans show a layout for their Pacific Coast Highway digs. Mapping out the address, it appears to be on the ocean side, very close to Alessandro Pirozzi's newest destination. Between Tackle Box and Slapfish, we see a chowder showdown in the works.
FYI – The Brea Slapfish spot opens Wednesday, December 30 at 3405 E Imperial Hwy. First 100 guests starting at 11 a.m. receive a free lobster roll from Chef Andrew!
Slapfish CdM will be at 2933 E Coast Hwy in Corona del Mar; www.slapfishrestaurant.com.
