Comic-Con International: San Diego celebrates it’s 50th anniversary this year as the premiere pop culture convention. It began as a small gathering of young fans in the basement of U.S. Grant Hotel in 1970, and has grown to 135,000 attendees in the San Diego Convention Center. Comic books will always be the soul of Comic-Con, but it’s also a celebration of games, science fiction, literature, film and television, toys, and anime.
