On January 19th, 2019 the 3rd annual OC Women’s March took place in Downtown Santa Ana. Thousands from all over Orange County came together to support women and protest the spread of hate throughout our local communities. As the country remains divided on many human rights topics, a span of concerns were voiced specifically about the needs of housing for the homeless, acceptance of our LGBTQIA+ residents, and of course women’s rights. Counter protesters wearing red baseball caps did make a quick appearance but did not last very long before giving up and going home. Representative Katie Porter marched after speaking of the importance of solidarity and Dolores Huerta took the stage to reaffirm the need to “resist and persist” as change continues on.
