The Endless Summer 50th Anniversary

The narration may have been corny, and the board shorts relatively skimpy by today’s standards, but Bruce Brown’s epic film, The Endless Summer, is still the surf genre’s greatest documentary. Those of us who’ve repeatedly watched the flick (about two surfers following summer around the world in search of the perfect wave) have indelible images etched in our brains—from gorgeous footage of legendary pro surfers Robert August and Mike Hynson dropping in on endlessly peeling peaks at a point break off South Africa to horrendous wipeouts at Waimea Bay. The Surfing Heritage and Cultural Center hosts a celebration of the film’s 50th anniversary featuring a fancy dinner as well as silent and live auctions. Proceeds benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. There's also a VIP pre-party gathering where guests can meet Brown, August and Hynson. Drop in and say hi.
