Every OC Airbnb owner claims to be “charming,” “steps to the beach”, and “close to Disneyland,” and while the best ones are certainly these things, they also have two qualities that distinguish them from everyone else: quirk and character. From Caribbean-inspired beach bungalows to a 30-foot sailboat, here are the Airbnbs that are attractions as much as the places people visit here for.

10. The Bitchin' Beach House (Dana Point)
A colorful beach bungalow, you already know you're going to have fun–maybe too much fun–at The Bitchin' Beach House. Inspired by the Caribbean, the interior consists of stained glass, and fun names are given to the rooms like “Captain's Room” (it's got a hanging-chair hammock!) and “Bamboo Room,” which is decorated with furniture from a villa in Mexico and includes a handmade bed constructed with bamboo.
9. Floating Bed in Backyard (Mission Viejo)
Sleeping in the backyard for the hell of it has just gotten more interesting with this floating bed. Who needs a 5-star hotel when you can get nature's breeze and be (somewhat) suspended in the air? Larger than a king-sized bed, this floating bed is roomy — perfect for snuggling with whoever, whenever. Though they aren't taking any guests right now, this is definitely one to bookmark just in case they start taking guests again.
8. 30-foot Catalina Sailboat (Newport Harbor)
If your trip to the O.C. is primarily for the beaches, consider staying at this 30-foot long, 12-foot wide, 7-feet tall boat in Newport Harbor during your stay. This Airbnb is ideal for sea-lovers and simple folks who only needs a stove, water, bathroom, and a coffee maker to be happy–oh, and some unconventionality. Sure the sailboat will rock every so often, but aren't you supposed to do that, anyways?

7. Mid-Century Modern House (Orange)
Exposed beams, large windows, and ceiling windows aren't extremely common in Orange, unless you stop by in the area with a bunch of Eichler homes like this one. If you're into theme parks, both Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm less than 15-20 minutes away. Plus there's a walking trail behind the house, and the owners like having coffee and muffins with their guests. Cute stuff.
6. Oasis (San Juan Capistrano)
Going on a getaway often means turning off the 4G and staying somewhere calm and quiet — like at this San Juan Capistrano home near the Mission and horse community. Hang out by the patio pond or take a bike path to the beaches at Dana Point Harbor, Laguna, and San Clemente. For live music, the Swallow's Inn is at your service.
5. Charming Design and Great Views (Laguna Beach)
Laguna Beach cottages are pretty – especially ones that look over Catalina, the beaches, and canyons like this one. Owned by an artist, this 1940s cottage looks resembles the aesthetic of an art gallery: minimal, all-white, with hints of color reserved for special decor. The beach is a ten-minute walk away and, in the summer, there's a free trolley service you can use to explore the area.

4. Monarch Beach Coastal Condo (Dana Point)
A beach condo behind the St. Regis Resort, this Airbnb includes a pool and three Jacuzzis, but why use 'em when you can drive three minutes to Dana Point Harbor or Laguna Beach? The summer shuttle service mentioned above is near this condo as well.
3. Kid-Friendly House on Bay and Beach (Newport Beach)
All play and no work is the mantra at this 5-bedroom Newport Bay house, where a playground, basketball court, and game room are all part of the package (thus, the “kid-friendly” part of their name). Guests who don't have beach equipment won't need to buy any, either; the owner provides Kayaks, boogie boards, beach towels, Frisbees, croquets, bocce-balls, a 10×10' popup, and board games. Good deal.
2. 1.7 Ocean Private Bungalow (Costa Mesa)
In a 12-home community 1.7 miles away from the ocean is a mid-century bungalow guarded by tall, green hedges. In the middle, a trendy wooden door unlocks a minimal, vintage-inspired home. Guests can explore Balboa Island or Newport Bay Harbor or catch a movie at Starlight Triangle Square Cinemas.
And our choice for best Airbnb home is…

1. Modern Home (Dana Point)
Minimal on both the outside and inside, this renovated 1950s home is an example of high-end simplicity. Among the minimal, white decor are a black fireplace mounted on light wood, a second fireplace in the backyard, and a book of local recommendations create by the owner herself. If you stay here, take a stroll along the Salt Creek and Strands beaches and explore the trails nearby.
