Parades: the grand events allowing neighbors to join together curbside and witness decorated floats and marching bands work their way from one end of a closedoff street to the other, while cars trying to make their way home are rerouted and drivers frustrated. If only there was another surface upon which to march our decorated vehicles—but there is! For the past 105 years the City of Newport Beach has hosted a holiday parade floated upon its harbor for all the water-loving masses. Witness yachts, dinghies, kayaks, canoes and Santa Claus himself paraded in a boating blaze of twinkle lights and holiday music for five straight days over a 14-mile route through Newport Harbor. Brought to you by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, this year’s boat parade is a celebration of holiday spirit for all to enjoy—without the traffic congestion.
