I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret: I'm not a sandwich guy. I just never got the hype. I mean, you're putting food inside of bread. It doesn't magically make it better. If your filing is already great, it's not going to get more great.
I spend most of my hours sitting next to a girl (LP) who's way into them, and honestly it's kind of tiring (just kidding, she's cool). But despite her enthusiasm, I remain unimpressed.
Except when it comes to one specific sandwich. The chicken, broccoli and mushroom with garlic sauce from Le Diplomat.

The sandwich filing is the kind of filing that needs bread to work. Chunks of chicken (still moist, not at all dry), perfectly cooked broccoli (still firm and crunchy, but yields enough that you can get through with one bite), soft mushrooms all smothered in garlic sauce and cheese would be a pain to eat alone, but when enveloped in some of the best baguette you can get and pressed on a grill, well, it's heaven.
Spread a little of the provided sriracha on the edge of the sandwich as you eat, and it's wonderful. The spice and brightness of the hot sauce cuts the richness of the chicken before the garlic sauce comes back and coats your mouth.
It's the only sandwich I crave and for good reason.
