Equality and women’s rights will be focus of the 5th Annual International Women’s Day Event, which will unfold throughout Plaza Santa Ana. The free, family friendly event celebrates the social and economic advances that women have fought for, while also addressing the need for further improvement. Speakers will discuss the history of Women’s Day, along with topics like alcohol and drug abuse, and nutrition. The event will also feature a self-defense workshop that includes information regarding rape on college campuses, and a booth for the Insurgencia Femenina women’s radio show. Organizers will additionally host a variety of activities and attractions including yoga, live music, poetry readings, and a children’s art booth.
