One of the great ironies in Orange County: When it was at its homophobic worst, from the 1960s through the 1980s, there were multiple LGBT bars in Garden Grove and Laguna Beach. Now that OC is more faaaabulous than ever, the gay-bar scene is skinnier than a twink slimming down for White Party Palm Springs. But even if there were a bunch of gay bars, VLVT Velvet Lounge would probably still be the winner gracias to its stiff drinks, unlimited Taco Tuesday, and theme nights throughout the week. Latest promotion: BOYBAR 18+ on Sunday nights. No homophobia allowed!
