A psychological thriller that was made by a lifelong Orange County resident—and shot in Anaheim, Trabuco Canyon and Big Bear Lake—is being released on DVD today.
Silent Retreat comes from Starko Entertainment of Mission Viejo and Newport Beach-born filmmaker Ace Jordan.
Jordan, whose other credits as an editor, director or producer include Kill Devin Hill (2010) and Rape Kit (2011), has said he strives “to create material that pushes the envelope of not only genre but where a film can take you psychologically” and that, “Sometimes you do your best work when there’s a gun to your head.”
His 92-minute film stars Donny Boaz, Rebecca Summers, Danillo Di Julio, Landon Ashworth and Devon Ogden (of opener photo fame).
Here is the movie’s description:
Six members of a media company go on a weekend business retreat at an isolated lodge in the woods. When one of the members goes missing, they discover that the lodge was formerly a private mental institution that had been shut down after allegations of devious misconduct. One by one, they fall victim to the dark secrets buried at the lodge.
