Maybe you don’t celebrate Mother’s Day. Or you’re still looking for somewhere to eat this weekend. We felt bad for deviating from the usual activity list, so we’ve got four ways to pass the time.
Vehicle Health Check + Food Trucks At Innova – Irvine
Three years ago, we heard about a place off Von Karman that was conducting free car inspections in exchange for luxe lonchera meals. They’re at it again TODAY from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you’ve got a solid hour to lunch near John Wayne, this might fit the bill. Stop by Innova at 17352 Von Karman for a free vehicle health inspection report (normally $19.99). Fill out a five minute survey, then redeem it for $7 at Sexy Burger, Curry Wurst, Street Foods Co. or Buqqa Food Truck. Pretty decent trade, if you ask us.
At Home In the Garden – Costa Mesa
The annual spring garden show began yesterday and lasts through the weekend. Jam-packed with activities, topics include herbal gardening, growing organic strawberries, and making pies in a jar. A leisurely way to spend your afternoon, be sure to check out the incredible display gardens. Parking and admission are free, so plan your day around the seminar schedule.
Sabroso Craft Beer & Taco Festival – Lake View Park
Over 90 unlimited beers on tap, plus $3 tacos and Lucha Libre matches. What?! Your taco vendors include the likes of Dos Chinos, Falasophy, The Kroft, Working Class Kitchen, Pour Vida, Grits Fullerton, and El Mercado. Linking you to Saturday’s beer list will also lead you to the site to purchase tickets. Sabroso runs from noon to 4 p.m., with pricing between $55 and $65.
Global Food Summit: From Crisis to Security – UC Irvine
This two-day conference beginning May 5 is for those seeking answers to the challenges of global food security and nutrition. Talks from leaders and academics from throughout the University of California system will be featured, focusing on frameworks for ending hunger and addressing climate change. A full schedule of events isĀ found on their website.
