Ahh, Mother’s Day weekend. You’ll find so many ways to celebrate, that it’s tough to locate “other”. So what we did was look ahead. Open up that calendar— you’ve got some dinner dates to plan.
Golden Chef Series – Irvine
Starting this Saturday (and every other Saturday until June 18), Irvine Spectrum is hosting the Golden Chef Series. Get to know Spectrum chefs through live cooking demos staged by the ferris wheel. VIP seating is available for an additional fee, and Wing Lam of Wahoo’s fame will be your host with the most. Anthony Endy of Paul Martin’s American Grill and Chef Sarah Daniels from Del Frisco’s Grille start things off at 2 p.m.
Blood & Guts – Fullerton
A collaboration between Noble Ale Works and Grits Fullerton, this imaginative dinner is appropriately set for Friday the 13th. Not for the squeamish, expect the unexpected. If that doesn’t deter you, then how about this statement from Grits, “No food or beer menus will be released prior to this event. No vegan, vegetarian or dietary options will be available due to the blood and guts theme of this event.” Might as well tack on a “Not yet rated” disclaimer while they’re at it. Still down to drown in offal? Book it and fork over $100. It’s gonna sell out like the last three.
North Shore Poke Company Grand Opening – Costa Mesa
Edwin reported their new digs landing in the same plaza as Capital Noodle Bar and The Halal Guys. Now, it’s time for their doors to officially open. Stop by 3033 Bristol Street Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. for 15% off everything. Want more? How about a nifty commercial?
The Red Barn – Costa Mesa
OC Fair and Event Center presents a new seasonal dining experience called The Red Barn. The all-inclusive meal will include wine pairings by the Orange County Wine Society and courses any locavore would appreciate. Provenance and Lucca Chef Cathy Pavlos will serve a feast that includes trout and porchetta. To read the full menu and purchase tickets, visit their website.
