We're back along the beach cities this week, cruising for events. And yes, we cross into Long Beach for our first one. If you've got a family to entertain, check it out!
Long Beach BBQ Festival
Going on this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Rainbow Lagoon, the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) is making this their only California stop for the year. Pick a day, any day, and hit up this hodge podge of activities for the family. You'll find arts & crafts, a petting zoo, comedians, a dance floor and even a DIRECT TV tent airing live sports. Gordon Ramsay fans will want to show up on Saturday, and kids 12 and under get in for free.
The Fleming's 100 50/50 Tasting Event – Newport Beach
Depending on your availability, this is an interesting few nights. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Fleming's plans to open two select wines (two different bottles a night) during dinner service and offer complimentary tastings. They've been doing it most of the summer, but we know how busy you've been. Now if you're wanting something more, block out this Saturday evening. For $35, they'll be pouring 50 (yes, fifty) bottles between 5 and 6:30 p.m. The cost includes tray-passed appetizers, plus a $25 Dining Card for a future visit. Make a reservation for this boozy evening at (949) 720-9633.
Annual Plum Fest – Huntington Beach
Have a relaxing afternoon this Sunday in Old World as you celebrate all things Pflaumenkuchen. With strudel, crepes, jam and cake to satisfy that sweet tooth. Savory options are available, but why would you? Entry is free, as well as the DACHSHUND RACES! All the fun commences at 2 p.m.
Coming Soon:

Kicking off a week from now, grab a partner for a complete date night by the water. Select your options on the three-course menu ($40), then settle back and enjoy the vocal stylings of Julia Vari starting at 7 p.m. Only want to catch the show? That'll be $20. Dinner begins as early as 6 p.m.
