Sims resides in Brea, where police began investigating a report that she had been involved in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy, according to police Lt. Darrin Devereux. Detectives arrested her about 11 a.m. at Parks Junior High School in Fullerton, where she works as a special education teacher, added Devereux, who explained the boy is not a student there.
“With this unfortunate situation, Fullerton School District is committed to answering any and all concerns within the community,” states the district in a statement sent to parents. “Student safety is the primary concern of the district. The Fullerton School District will continue to do everything within its power to ensure its community–students, parents, faculty and staff–have the resources necessary to uphold a higher standard. Nothing less is acceptable.”
The district says Sims was placed on administrative leave. Booked at the Brea City Jail, she was released after posting a $50,000 bond. Meanwhile, police are trying to determine whether there are other victims, according to Devereux.
