If you've seen (or even participated in) a Santa pub crawl, then the sight of hundreds of people in red suits and white beards is a welcome one. Run for a Claus is a lot like that—though much less drunk. Held at UC Irvine, the inaugural event (offering a 5k or 1-mile kids run) raises funds for a host of charities including the Salvation Army, Wounded Warrior Project and Toys for Tots. Each runner is given a white beard and red Santa hat to wear in the race (let's hope temperatures drop a bit before then), as well as a finishers medal and commemorative mug. At the finish line, runners can refuel with hot cocoa, candy and cookies—for which they have definitely just burned off enough calories for.
