Documentary From Nothing, Something asks a question maybe every creative person has wondered: where the hell does creativity come from? These filmmakers took it upon themselves to seek out some of the greatest minds that have shaped our world and ask them. Although the names of these geniuses won't immediately sound familiar, their work is: Neville Page, who designed the creatures for Cloverfield, Super 8, and Avatar; Tom Perrotta, the novelist who penned Little Children and Election (both adapted to Oscar-nominated films); singer Sara Quin of Tegan and Sara; cancer researchers Moungi G. Bawendi and W. David Lee and comedian Maria Bamford. Part of the continuing Cinema Orange Film Series at OCMA, this doc screens among the beautiful artworks in the California Pacific Triennial exhibit—don’t forget to check that out while you’re there, maybe spark some creativity of your own.
