To be sure, there will be several documentaries, narrative features and short films screening during the OC Film Fiesta Oct. 18-28.

But Media Arts Santa Ana’s ninth annual event will include more than movies as music, parties and other special events will be happening at various locations in Santa Ana, Buena Park and Orange.

Because you will no doubt want to hit multiple screenings and events, it just makes good personal economic sense to grab a festival pass, which through Oct. 12 cost $60 or two for $100.

Opening Night features Camino A Marte, Humberto Hinojosa Ozcariz’s award-winning 2017 Mexican road picture, which translates in English to Road to Mars. Two friends (Camila Sodi and Tessa Ia) are driving through Baja California, where they meet a strange man (Luis Gerardo Méndez) who claims to be from another planet.

The adventure-dramedy screens at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Santa Ana College’s Phillips Hall Theatre, 1454-1592 N. Bristol St., Santa Ana. If that is all you are going to experience at the Fiesta: 1) Shame on you, and; B) Walk-up tickets will be $3 to $10 and parking is an additional $2.
