It was announced today that Dennis Szakacs, director and CEO of the Orange County Museum of Art, will step down from his position, effective December 31, 2013. Szakacs plans to stay close to the museum, however, by offering his services as consultant beginning 2014.
Szakacs has been at the helm of OCMA's exhibitions for ten years, and declares this as a time to “explore new opportunities.”
OCMA's had Szakacs around as director and CEO for longer than anyone else in the museum's history, and they sure don't undervalue Szakacs' contributions to the museum at all. GalleristNY released part of OCMA's statement in regards to Szakacs:
]
“During his tenure, OCMA's annual budget increased from $2.5 million to nearly $5 million, its endowment grew from $7 million to $11 million and the museum's facilities were renovated and updated.”
So to all future applicants for the director's position at OCMA, you've got BIG shoes to fill.
