At age 19, Rachel York moved to New York with lofty dreams of stardom in her head—and turned out to be one of the
very few who actually make it. After approaching and singing for agent Bill Timms, she was signed immediately—he
said she could “do anything.” And if you've caught her rendition of the demanding power ballad “I Will Always Love
You,” in which she switches from Whitney to Dolly to Cher to Judy (and even Elmo?), then you know that statement is
totally legitimate. York returns to the Carpenter Center this week (as part of the venue's Cabaret Series) with , a new
show spotlighting the Broadway star's amazing vocal range and
performance at the Center, let's see if she does it again.
